I recently had the pleasure of talking to Dr. Craig F. Beyer on LA Talk Radio for my website ?Answers for the Family?. We discussed his groundbreaking book, ?Heaven or Health: A Doctor?s Plan to save our Health & Health Care System.? This book reveals American Health Care.
Dr. Beyer pointed out that our current health care system is not living up to its promise of taking care of our national health. In fact, at times, it was even hurting the health of patients by forcing them to make inferior choices when it came to choosing health care options. This short-sighted approach would also limit research into new technology that improve the American quality of life.
The guest also explained that the current system costs much more than is necessary. Medicare and Medicaid not only increase taxes, but also force hospitals to mark up their prices because insurance will only pay a small percent.
As an example, he recalled the case of a friend who recently had a medical procedure. This gentleman paid $25,000 for a one-night hospital stay. When Dr Beyer examined the bill from the hospital, the actual cost was probably closer to $3,000 worth of medical treatments.
Obama care is not a meaningful alternative. It will add yet another layer of administration costs and red tape, drive many private doctors out of business and its numerous regulations will diminish the overall quality of health care provided to all of us with the exception of the very wealthy and the politicians themselves.
Dr. Beyer recommended that the first step was for Americans to become much more health conscious. They needed to improve their diet and exercise habits. The government only needed to provide health care for those who could not take care of themselves. The rest could fund their own medical care by opening up a tax-exempt personal health savings account.
