OKLAHOMA CITY ? A family is homeless Thursday after flames tore through their Oklahoma City home.
Fire crews were called to the 600 block of N. Tompkins Dr. near N. Council and Melrose Lane after reports came out about a house fire in the area.
When crews got there the fire had completely taken over with flames shooting from the garage of that home.
Fire fighters had to take a defensive approach before getting a handle on the fire.
According to fire officials, a man and woman and their three kids were home at the time of the fire but got out safely.
The family did have smoke detectors but they didn?t go off.
Crews said the fire started in the garage after a faulty clothes dryer caught fire and spread to the attic.
The family woke up to smoke, got out and called 911.
No injuries have been reported and an estimated $90,000 in damage.
